“Power Emergency Island” in Place as Chengdu World Games’ Electricity Backup Readies

On Aug 4, Chengdu 2025 World Games deployed a modular “Power Emergency Island” system, integrating command, backup power, charging, lighting, and flood control. State Grid Sichuan mobilized over 1,000 staff to secure 35 key venues, 104 substations, and 229 power lines. Ten grid projects completed by July 15 boosted core - area supply, with new storage enhancing regulation by 300 MW.
