In response to U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal to impose a 50% tariff on Chinese goods, Ministry of Commercef PRCand Ministry of Foreign Affairsof PRCissued strong statements. The commerce ministry warned of firm countermeasures if the tariff plan is enacted. The foreign ministry stressed China does not provoke disputes but will not back down from threats or pressure, vowing to defend its legitimate rights.
