China created a total of 12.56 million new urban jobs in 2024, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security said on Tuesday. The urban surveyed unemployment rate averaged 5.1 percent in 2024, 0.1 percentage points lower than that of the previous year.
The Ministry introduced five major employment advances for 2024:
First, the high-quality and full employment policy system is sound and complete. In 2024, 38.6 billion yuan of unemployment insurance stabilization and expansion funds were issued to 6.65 million sub-participating enterprises.
Second, the employment of key groups has been continuously strengthened. More than 2 million graduates in difficulty were given job-seeking subsidies. China hired 43,000 college graduates for community-level posts in education, agriculture, health care, and poverty relief.
Third, vocational skills training has been carried out effectively. In 2024, China granted 5.13 billion yuan in skill enhancement subsidies to 3.1 million people.
Fourth, public employment services have been continuously optimized.
