Former Executive Vice President of Duke Kunshan University: China-US relations can be cultivated among youth
"When we entered the era of interdependence in the 1970s and early 1980s, there were countries that said this interdependence is good." said Denis Simon, former Executive Vice President of Duke Kunshan University and Chair of Alliance of Global Talent Organizations (AGTO). However, he then added, some felt they were getting the short end at the peak of globalization.
Recently, in an exclusive interview with China Youth Daily, Simon illustrated that nowadays, more and more countries are measuring globalization from the lens of "national security", and that from employment opportunities to technology transfer, "globalization" has begun to produce "winners" and "losers".
In his view, facing the lack of trust in a fragmented world, rebuilding trust has become a top priority. "We can build future by young people living together and studying together while they are 17, 18, 19 years old", said Simon.
