At a State Council Information Office briefing, Xu Jianmin of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said steady grain prices and stable rural employment lifted farmers’ earnings in the first quarter. Rural per capita disposable income rose 5.4% in real terms, 2.2 percentage points quicker than urban households. Wage and business income accounted for over 70% of the increase.
The ministry unveiled 16 central subsidies in March to support farmers. It will fully enforce these policies and promote income growth through industrial development, job stability, reform and policy support.
