The buildings in Hetian Tuan Cheng were primarily made of rammed earth, brick, and wood, with old furnishings and safety hazards that severely impacted residents' lives and the city's image. Starting in 2016, Hetian Prefecture thoroughly implemented urban village renovation projects, integrating aid funds from other provinces and project capital to carry out phased renovations. The revitalized Tuan Cheng neighborhood now boasts appearance, with a stronger emphasis on local folk culture. In the first half of 2025, Hetian Tuan Cheng received 1.25 million tourist visits, generating total tourism revenue of 68.75 million yuan.
