On July 24, 2025, Dobjie, an elderly villager in Xizang’s Linze Ecological and Cultural Tourism Area, was spotted observing a Xizang macaque perched in a tree.
Nestled in the lush summer greenery of Linze Village, Gongbo’gyamda County, Nyingchi City, this area is known as a thriving habitat for Xizang macaques — a nationally protected species in China. Whether darting through the forest or resting on the hillsides, the macaques’ presence is a common and cherished sight.
Xizang macaques are classified as a Class II protected species in China.
