“Everything for our compatriots to return safely”

As conflict escalates in the Middle East, over 1,000 Chinese citizens have been safely evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijan Chinese Association, alongside the Chinese Embassy, rushed to the Astara border to welcome and assist evacuees—offering food, shelter, and a warm banner that read:“Welcome home.”

Faced with shut airspace, land routes became vital. Thanks to swift diplomatic coordination, a special humanitarian passage was opened. “We’ll stay at the border as long as it takes,” said volunteer leader Bao Lijun.
