World's First General AI Robot Expected to Reach Age-6 Level by Year-End

The world's first general AI robot, "Tongtong" demonstrated significant advances at the 2025 Zhongguancun Forum on March 29. Developed by the Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence, Tongtong 2.0 now performs cognitive tasks similar to a 5–6-year-old child, showcasing enhanced reasoning, conversation skills, and realistic behaviors. Researchers anticipate Tongtong reaching a full 6-year-old's cognitive abilities by late 2025.
